Designing a smooth and user-friendly research portal
Since 2008, the FRIS (Flanders Research Information Space) research portal maps information about scientific research in Flanders.
Analysis showed that the portal attracted a great amount of visitors, but these visitors only stayed on the website very briefly and did not navigate further.
Because of this, the department EWI (Economy, Science and Innovation) of the Flemish Government decided that usability research was needed to investigate the needs of the target audience. With the results of this research, they did not only optimize the portal but also develop a more focused strategy for communication and marketing.
